Egypt launches comprehensive review of sports strategies after Paris 2024 Olympics

The Egyptian government, led by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, has announced an extensive judgement of the country’s sporting strategies and preparations after the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The initiative follows discussions focused to increase Egypt’s chances to excel on the international stage by focusing on freeing up resources for athlete development.

During the meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhy, President Al-Sisi said stressed the importance of reassessing Egypt’s readiness for the upcoming Olympic Games, focusing on the need to allocate funds efficiently and provide athletes with optimal support.

The judgement will focus on elite athletes and broader structural improvements, including improving training facilities, coaching and management of national teams.

The next round of the Olympic Games will be held in Los Angeles, USA, from 14 to 30 July 2028.
