Egg Recall: FDA Classifies 3 Egg Brands as ‘Highest Possible Risk’ in Recall; throw it away as soon as possible

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has classified a recently recalled egg brand as a high-risk “Class I” recall.

According to the agency, a “Class I” recall is the highest possible risk category of recall classified by the FDA.

This means that there exists “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that use of or exposure to an infringing product will cause serious adverse health effects or death,” according to the FDA.

The recalled egg brands that fall under this classification include Milo’s Poultry Farms and Tony’s Fresh Market chicken eggs, as well as Happy Quackers Farm duck eggs, all distributed by the company Milo’s Poultry Farms LLC.

The strain of salmonella involved is antibiotic-resistant, meaning it may be more difficult to treat serious bacterial infections.
