Edmonton Riverhawks: Smoke moves Tuesday game against Nanaimo to Wednesday for doubleheader

Poor air quality forces the Edmonton Riverhawks to move Tuesday’s game at Remax Field to Wednesday as part of a doubleheader.

With air quality in the city expected to be at level 10, or “very hazardous,” the West Coast League baseball club announced Tuesday afternoon that it has canceled its 7:05 p.m. game against the visiting Nanaimo NightOwls.

The game will be made up on Wednesday with a doubleheader against Nanaimo, with Game 1 at 7 p.m., followed by Game 2 at approximately 9 p.m.

The Riverhawks said one ticket is valid for both games.

The WCL season runs until August 7, followed by the play-offs from August 10.

Tuesday’s cancellation and the rescheduling of Wednesday’s doubleheader followed similar circumstances the Riverhawks faced this weekend during games against the Springfield, Oregon, Drifters.

Due to poor air quality, Saturday night and Sunday morning games at River Valley Ballpark in Edmonton were canceled, but then rescheduled for a doubleheader on Sunday night.
