Ector ISD earns the state’s highest rating for budget responsibility

Ector, Texas – Ector Independent School District officials announced that the district has been rated “A” for “Superior Performance” under Texas’ School FIRST Financial Responsibility Rating System. The Superior Achievement rating is the highest in the state, demonstrating the quality of Ector ISD’s financial management and reporting system.

The primary goal of School FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school districts’ financial resources, a goal made even more important due to the accounting complexity associated with the school finance system in Texas.

“We are pleased with Ector ISD’s School FIRST rating,” said Ector ISD Superintendent Jennifer Morris. “This assessment shows that our district is getting the most out of our taxpayer dollars. This assessment shows that Ector ISD is not only responsible for student learning, but also for achieving these outcomes cost-effectively and efficiently.”

The Texas Education Agency has assigned one of four financial accountability ratings to school districts in Texas, with the highest being “A” for “Superior Performance,” followed by “B” for “Above Standard Performance” and “C” for “Standard Performance ” and “F” for “Underperformance”.
