Eberechi Eze sees contender for goal of the season written off

Crystal Palace play Brentford at the Gtech Stadium on Sunday afternoon and the match was marred by controversy after Eberechi Eze missed a contender for Goal of the Season.

With just over 25 minutes left on the clock, the England international produced a disgraceful free-kick from distance, deceiving Mark Flekken in the Brentford net. The strike would have gone on the list of goals of the season at the end of the 2024/25 campaign, but unfortunately it failed to materialise.

Referee Samuel Barrott saw a foul by Will Hughes on Nathan Collins, but the decision seemed harsh as both players were holding each other.

Sky Sports pundits called the call-up a ‘nightmare’ as it turned out to be an unfortunate situation for Eze.
