East Community High School student attacked at MLK Park in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) – An East Community High School student was attacked Tuesday at MLK Park in Buffalo.

According to a Buffalo police report, the victim was attacked by unknown individuals in the park around 3 p.m. Tuesday and fled in an unknown direction. The victim was taken to Oishei Children’s Hospital to be treated for a broken collarbone and head injuries.

The report stated that the victim was unconscious and had no memory of what happened.

A spokesperson for the Buffalo Public School District released the following statement to 7 News:

“This is a community crisis and the entire community must become part of the solution because this kind of senseless violence has no place in our community. The district is actively supporting the Buffalo Police Department’s investigation into a horrific attack that occurred after school at MLK Park to ensure those responsible are held legally accountable. Chief Inspector Dr. Williams Knight is fully aware of the attack that occurred yesterday afternoon at MLK Park and is shocked! The district will therefore take as strong action as possible against the alleged perpetrators. Because it was a targeted attack, the district is once again calling on students to speak up if they see or hear anything. We wish the victim and the family our sincere wishes for a speedy recovery. Chief Inspector Dr. Williams Knight will be contacting the victim’s family.”
