Dynamos gets less than half of its income from matches

Dynamos are said to have received less than half of the total revenue they generated during their match against Highlanders at the Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

According to H-Metrothe game generated a gross income of US$48,049, but the financially struggling DeMbare only received US$23,864 of it.

Among the direct match costs deducted from the revenue was US$1,103.93 that Dynamos paid for the cost of tickets supplied to the clubs by the Premier Soccer League (PSL). Clubs are required to pay a percentage for each of the tickets sold at the entry points.

A PSL club official, who wished to remain anonymous, told H-Metro that the current arrangement is not fair to the clubs given the challenging economic environment in which they operate. The official said:

It’s a controversial topic as you would expect the club to get the bulk of the revenue as the teams here are the biggest draws.

All the others just support the parties, and these are not the parties that should get the bulk of the revenue from the entrance fees.

People come to see the players play, who are paid by these clubs. We have to find a way to protect these clubs, especially given the difficult circumstances we live in.

It is fair to say that there are two matches where Dynamos are likely to receive substantial income from entrance fees throughout the season: against CAPS and Highlanders.

So we can say that during those two matches we reduce the levies that we impose on these clubs and they do not have to pay for tickets and things like that.

All other games pay out as usual and we can use the same model for other games such as FC Platinum, Ngezi Platinum and Manica Diamonds.

They all know that they have one or two games per season where they can maximize their revenue.
