Drone launched from Lebanon targets Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s home, no injuries reported

A drone targeted the private home of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Israeli city of Caesarea, shortly after the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

Netanyahu’s spokesman confirmed that the Israeli prime minister was not near the scene during the drone strike.

“A UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) was launched towards the Prime Minister’s residence in Caesarea. The prime minister and his wife were not at the location and no injuries were reported in the incident,” the Israeli prime minister’s office said in a statement.

The Israeli military had earlier said the drone was launched from Lebanon and hit a building.

Two additional drones were intercepted as they entered Israeli airspace.

Hezbollah, which has been in conflict with Israel or any other group since October last year, did not immediately claim responsibility for the drone strike.

In addition to the ongoing war with Hamas, Israel is also involved in a conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Since the October 7 attack, Israel and Hezbollah have exchanged rocket fire, and Tel Aviv deployed ground troops across the Lebanese border last month.

The drone incident follows an Israeli military airstrike that reportedly destroyed Hezbollah’s regional command center.

At least 1,418 people were killed in Lebanon by the end of September, according to data from the Lebanese Health Ministry, although the actual toll is expected to be higher.

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East is expected to escalate following the killing of Yahya Sinwar during an Israeli operation in southern Gaza.

Sinwar, the mastermind behind the October 7 attacks that killed more than 1,200 Israelis and took more than 250 hostages to Gaza, became Hamas leader after Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Tehran in July.
