Dricus Du Plessis Submits Israel Adesanya to Retain UFC Crown

Dricus Du Plessis is still the king of the middleweight division, defeating former two-time champion Israel Adesanya with a rear-naked choke in round 4 to retain his title in the main event of UFC 305 in Perth, Australia on Saturday.

Du Plessis wore Adesanya down with his persistent pressure and punches and was given the tap-out at 3 minutes and 38 seconds.

Du Plessis (22-2) won his 10th fight in a row, coming off a split decision over Sean Strickland in January to win the 185-pound title. Du Plessis entered the fight as the No. 1 middleweight in the ESPN rankings.
