Dr. Disrespect Wants to Reapply for YouTube Pay Plan, Has His Eye on X-Exclusive Streams

Dr Disrespect is looking to strike a deal with YouTube to enable his monetization on the YouTube channel, where he has 4.62 million subscribers. At the same time, the returning streamer, who took a hiatus after admitting to sending inappropriate messages to a minor, will also look into streaming options on X (formerly Twitter).

The 42-year-old streamer has been unable to monetize his broadcasts on YouTube after the Google-owned video platform demonetized his profile following the June controversy. Dr. Disrespect subsequently shared a (since-deleted) apology explaining that in 2017 he had shared Twitch whisper conversations with “an individual minor” that were “casual, consensual conversations that at times veered too far toward inappropriateness.”

After a brief hiatus from the streaming world, the disgraced gaming entertainer returned to huge viewing figures on September 7. At the same time, he attempted to defend himself by sharing “the legal definition of sexting” and suggesting that Twitch, where he remains banned to this day, wanted him to leave so it could pay other stars.

While his offensive attack on those who never wanted him back seems to be working somewhat and he seems to be settling back into a more normal schedule, one thing still lingers: YouTube payments.

Since his comeback stream “The Truth,” Dr Disrespect has appeared on YouTube twice, Space Marine 2 and then Valve’s Deadlock. The former racked up a million views, while the latter had over 834,000 views, but neither earned more than donations. In an effort to finalize his comeback, the Two-Time is now preparing to reapply for YouTube monetization rights, with his first filing date for the appeal set for Wednesday, September 25.

There is no indication from YouTube that Dr Disrespect will have his payment arrangement reversed, at the time of writing. Dot Esports has been contacted for comment on the possibility.

The controversial star won’t be relying solely on YouTube to revive cash flow, however, especially since the video giant is unlikely to join in any time soon. Instead, he’s also eyeing options on Elon Musk’s social media site X, which monetizes content via subscriptions and reach.

He all but confirmed this X-plan during his return stream, when a “glitch” in his streaming software revealed a robot asking fans to “subscribe to X”. Of course, this was all part of a Dr Disrespect sketch, with the moment acting more as a teaser.

Likewise, Musk and X’s top brass have yet to say anything about a deal for the Doc, though that seems more likely than a YouTube partnership for the disgraced streamer. Dr Disrespect actually offered to “take streaming to the next level” on X in late 2023, though it was radio silence from social media back then, too.

Should all of YouTube and X’s plans fail, the Doc may also turn to Kick, who turned down a $10 million deal with the upstart site before the controversy.
