A total of 10 Fort Dodge softball players have been selected to the Iowa Alliance Conference North Division Honor teams, the league recently announced.

Junior Lucy Porter and freshman Hope Alstott were both unanimously selected, while junior Meah McCaleb and freshman Ellie Doster joined them on the Dodgers’ first team, who finished second in the league.

Aubrey Alstott, Maeleena Meyer, Macy Brown and Calliegh Zimmermann each made the second team. Mackenzie McIlrath and Ashlyn Wills were honorable mentions.

“I am very proud of all these girls for being honored,” FDSH head coach Andi Adams said. “They all put so much time into it, and it’s great to see them being recognized for that.”

Porter, who has committed to play for Div. II powerhouse Minnesota State University, finished first in the division among all pitchers with 60 strikeouts in IAC games while holding opponents to a league-low .203 batting average.

Her earned run average of 1.80 was good for third place, while her six wins were the fourth most.

At bat, Porter was fifth in average (.450) during IAC action, fifth in RBI (16) and fifth in on-base (.566).

Hope Alstott was second with a .512 batting average and finished third in OBP (.585), steals (13) and runs scored (25). She also collected the fifth-most hits with 21.

McCaleb dominated in the conference, leading the league in average (.578), runs scored (30), hits (26), triples (three), on-base (.649) and slugging percentage (.867). She also finished third in steals (13) and total bases (39).

Doster was second in doubles and walks, driving in 15 and striking out two runners.

“Lucy, Hope, Meah and Ellie all had amazing seasons,” said Adams. “There is a lot of pressure on these girls, and they rose to the challenge.”

Brown, one of two seniors, had a .938 fielding percentage while recording 13 hits and 13 RBIs in IAC games. Zimmermann, a freshman, was first in fielding percentage, having 12 hits with 12 runs scored and five RBIs.

Aubrey Alstott had seven wins, the most in her division, and had the lowest earned run average as an eighth-grader at 1.32.

Meyer, a sophomore, had six hits and drove in three during IAC action.

McIlrath, the other senior besides Brown, had 11 hits, 10 RBI and six runs. Wills, a junior, was fifth in fielding percentage, adding nine hits and five RBI to the plate.

Fort Dodge qualified for its seventh consecutive state tournament and ninth in 10 years. The Dodgers went 31-13 overall this season, finishing behind only Ames in the regular season.
