‘Doronko Wanko’ rewards you for destroying your home

In Doronko Wankoa keeshond tries to find out how much mess he can make while his owner is sleeping.

Sometimes you just want to destroy things and cause chaos. In this title, you are literally rewarded for how much mess you can cause while your owner is asleep. Playing as a cute Pomeranian, you can do almost anything. You are cute, your fur is white, and you clearly would not cause a mess on purpose.

DORONKO WANKO - a Keeshond running through a living room, flanked by hammerhead sharks.

But that is exactly what you should do. The game itself gives you a huge house and your owner, a young lady, sleeps at the kitchen table. While she sleeps, you can run around the house and cause all sorts of trouble. Your little paws can run through mud, paint, drinks, whatever and leave footprints everywhere. You can throw things off tables, bite things until they snap, and throw yourself around until the house is in ruins.

As you destroy your new home, the game calculates the total damage cost, and it feels good to see the amounts go up. When you reach a milestone, you’ll receive a gift that will randomly appear in the house. These gifts are often regular items, but they can help you make even more of a mess. A fan, one of the first items I unlocked, can blow more trash and nasty stuff stuck to your fur further across the living room. Over time, you’ll also unlock more rooms to explore and destroy.

DORONKO WANKO - a Keeshond jumps through the air with a chain gun on its back.

There are achievements in the game that feel fun and satisfying to unlock, and you can view all of your damage at the end via a play-by-play receipt. It’s pretty interesting to see exactly how much it’ll cost to repair the aftermath of your reign of adorable terror.

I’ve played a lot Doronko Wanko at Gamescom and I really enjoyed the idea of destroying a house as a cute dog. There isn’t really a goal set other than “ruining everything”, but sometimes that’s the best type of game to play. I enjoyed how quickly the numbers went up and how much money I ended up costing my poor human. Hopefully all will be forgiven. I am cute, after all.

Doronko Wanko is available for free on Steam.
