‘Do not approach him’: manhunt has begun after the man suffered life-threatening injuries

Detectives are trying to track down a Camborne man in connection with an attack that has left one person in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officers were called to a serious assault on Pengenon Way in the town of Cornwall at around 11.55pm on Thursday, November 21.

A man in his 30s appeared to have suffered life-threatening injuries and is now being treated in hospital.

A crossbow linked to the attack was also seized.

Devon and Cornwall Police say local man Jason ‘Jay’ Simmons is now wanted in connection with the attack, and detectives have said finding him is a “matter of urgency”.

Police believe that the 56-year-old man may have access to a black Ford C-Max with the license plate LR58 MVG.

Detective Inspector Dan Massey said: “Searches are continuing to locate Simmons and officers are also carrying out inquiries in the area. I can confirm that officers yesterday found and seized a crossbow believed to be related to this incident.

“The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered life-threatening injuries and continues to be treated in hospital.”

DI Massey added: “I urge anyone who has seen Jason Simmons, or knows of his whereabouts, to contact us.

“Please note that the image of Simmons is from 2011, so his appearance may vary slightly, but at this time it is the most recent image available to us.”

Simmons is said to be white, about 6 feet tall, with blue eyes and a piercing in his left ear.

Anyone who sees Simmons or knows his whereabouts is asked not to approach him but to call 999 immediately and quote log 973 of November 21, 2024.
