Tara Connolly, executive director of the DMACC Foundation, said in an interview that with these funds the foundation will award $2.4 million in scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year, surpassing the previous year’s record $2.2 million is broken.

“We are extremely grateful to our generous sponsors, dedicated players and tireless volunteers who made this incredible achievement possible,” Connolly said in the press release. “Raising $500,000 for scholarships is a testament to our community’s continued commitment to changing lives and strengthening communities through education at DMACC.”

Since the tournament was founded in 2007, the event has raised more than $5.5 million for college scholarships, DMACC President Rob Denson said in the news release. It is the foundation’s largest scholarship fundraiser.

Students can apply for scholarships for the coming academic year until July 15 via an online form. After applying, the foundation will “match the student with any available scholarship they may receive,” according to the press release.

“There is clear evidence that the support this scholarship event provides to students makes a difference in their ability to stay in college and graduate for a better job or to further their education,” Denson said in the press release.
