Disney Unveils Two New Marvel Attractions at Avengers Campus

It’s been two years since Disney announced a new Marvel attraction at California Adventure’s Avengers Campus starring King Thanos as the villain. Earlier this week at D23, Disney shared a look at the vehicle that will drive guests through the multiverse. Now, the attraction’s name has been revealed. It will be called Avengers: Infinity Defense.

The story behind the attraction is that Tony Stark has developed a new portal technology that can transport riders to different worlds. But that has also attracted the attention of King Thanos, a version of the Mad Titan who won the Infinity War in an alternate reality. Since Avengers Campus is set in an alternate MCU where Thanos never wiped out half the universe, the heroes don’t know what to expect from him. Unfortunately for them, King Thanos is coming to put that right.

In Avengers: Infinity Defense, the MCU heroes face off against King Thanos’ attacks on Asgard, Wakanda, and other familiar Marvel locations before the finale with the Mad Titan.

But that’s not the only Marvel theme park news coming out of D23. An Iron Man-themed attraction, Stark Flight Lab, will be the fourth attraction at Avengers Campus. It’s a robotic arm attraction that will allow guests to simulate flight just like Iron Man himself. And none other than Robert Downey Jr. will be reprising his role as Tony Stark for the attraction. Remember, Avengers Campus comes from an MCU timeline where Stark never died, so no resurrection is needed here.

There is no timetable yet for the opening of these attractions, but construction on Avengers: Infinity Defense is well underway.
