Diamond League: Matthew Hudson-Smith ready to renew Quincy Hall rivalry in 400m

Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith will be seeking revenge on Quincy Hall as they rekindle their Diamond League rivalry in Lausanne on Thursday.

Hall, 26, beat Hudson-Smith to gold in the men’s 400 meters at the Paris Olympics by four hundredths of a second.

Hudson-Smith, who was favourite for gold, improved his European record to 43.44 seconds, but Hall ran a personal best of 43.40 to take victory.

In the men’s 200 metres, Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo hopes to take his sensational form from Paris to Switzerland, where he will once again face Americans Erriyon Knighton and Fred Kerley.

The 21-year-old Tebogo was the surprise winner of the 200 metres final in Paris, running an African record of 19.46 seconds to become Botswana’s first Olympic champion.

British duo Daryll Neita and Dina Asher-Smith will compete in the women’s 100 metres, while Georgia Bell will compete in the 800 metres after winning bronze in the 1500 metres in Paris.

Neita and Asher-Smith will also compete in the 100 meters in the Silesia Diamond League on Sunday.

Sweden’s Armand Duplantis, who just won gold in the pole vault in Paris, is aiming to jump even higher in Poland after setting a new world record of 6.25 metres at the Stade de France.

The Lausanne Diamond League will be broadcast live on BBC Two at 19:00 BST on Thursday 22 August, while the Silesia Diamond League will be broadcast on BBC Two at 15:00 BST on Sunday 25 August.
