Diablo 4 Beast in the Ice Boss Guide: How to Find, Defeat, and Get All the Rewards

The Beast in the Ice is one of the bosses you can defeat in the game Devil 4. This boss isn’t exactly an easy one, but the rare loot you get and the reward materials you get for it make beating him crucial for other endgame content, so roll up those sleeves.

Here’s how to find, summon, and defeat the Beast in the Ice Devil 4.

Where can you find the Beast in the Ice?

The Beast in the Ice is located in the level 85 Glacial Fissure dungeon in the Fractured Peaks area of SanctuaryPreviously, you had to craft a sigil to enter this dungeon. However, this was removed in Patch 1.5.0, so as long as you’re playing in World Tier Four, you can enter this dungeon without having to craft the Glacial Fissure Sigil.

How to Summon the Beast in the Ice

There are two ways to summon the Beast in the Ice: The normal method (which will give you a level 85 Beast in the Ice for the final boss fight) and then the tormented method (which will earn you a level 200 Beast in the Ice).

To summon the normal Beast in the Ice (the level 85 Beast), bid nine Distilled fear at the altar in the dungeon. You can get this by participating in World Tier Four endgame content such as Helltides, World Bosses, or Nightmare Dungeons (Tier 30 or higher).

To summon the Tormented Beast in the Ice (the improved level 200 copy), you must offer the following materials at the altar:

  • 27 Distilled Fear.
  • One Stygian Stone: You have a chance to get these from high level Pit runs (usually above level 60), World Bosses, and Seasonal Caches.

Once you have the necessary materials and are at the altar, you can summon the version of the Beast in the Ice that you want to defeat in this Diablo4 dungeon battle.

How to Defeat the Beast in the Ice

In addition to the basic functions of the Beast in the Ice melee attacks (which you can usually avoid by standing behind him) He has four core mechanics that you need to be aware of: Ice Breath, Ice Shards, Air Whip and Ice Star.

Ice Breath

For his ice breath, the Beast roars a stream of cold breath before him and turns to follow you. When you see this, get behind him or move out of reach of the breath. He also summons multiple Ice Shards that race across the map. You can avoid these by get out of the way or move between the holes.

Air sweep

Aerial Swipe is one of the most annoying mechanics in this fight; the Beast flies into the air, filling the edges of the map with a swirling wind and sweeping four lines vertically or horizontally. You can steer this into the swirling wind.

To survive this mechanism, you must stand in the middle. As soon as you see the clear lane, step onto it. He will summon mobs, so lure them into the safe zone and take care of them there. Otherwise you will be sent flying. When the swipes disappear, go back to the center, wait for the next round of swipes, and find the safe zone again. Keep repeating this process until he falls to the ground and can take damage again.

Ice star

During the Ice Star mechanics, he will send out five thick lines of ice bursting from the ice shards. To prevent him from being slowed down by this, stand in the safe spaces. While the center seems safe, it also bursts with ice shards, so this is not a safe zone. Once the ice shards burst, the Beast will summon another Ice Star with a line appearing in your direction. Quickly move to the next safe zone, avoid the attacks, and repeat until this mechanism stops.

If you avoid these mechanics, you can deal damage freely. If you need to use your health potions, don’t worry, because he drops potions when his health is 75, 50, and 25 percent. As for elixirs, the best one to consume before summoning the Beast is the Elixir of cold resistance, which will help to reduce some of the incoming cold damage. So, if you’re not good at avoiding mechanics or your class is on the slow side, this elixir can really help.

As long as you can avoid his mechanics and deal damage safely between his attacks, you can defeat the Beast in the Ice relatively quickly.

Best of all, once you’ve defeated the Beast in the Ice, you can use the altar to summon him again (if you have the necessary materials) without having to leave the dungeon.
