Destiny 2’s Pathfinder system gets a much-needed overhaul in Episode 2: Revenant

Destination 2 development continues despite everything The final shape conclusion and unrest at Bungie, and the studio looks ahead to what’s to come by announcing a major quality improvement.

The Pathfinder system, a new way for players to complete ritual activities and earn rewards each week, was introduced with The final shape expansion in June. It wasn’t very popular with players from the start and after a few minor tweaks it was still not well received.

But starting in The fate Episode Two: Revenant, an overhaul of Pathfinder, gives players more control over how they earn their rewards in any given week. Bungie revealed the news in a new post on Twitter/X today, August 26, that Pathfinder will be getting three different paths.

The Pathfinder Ritual will now be split into Vanguard, Gambit, and Crucible activities, allowing players to choose which playlist they want to play to earn weekly rewards, including top-level items and more.

On each path there are mode specific nodes to unlock by completing a variety of challenges. There are also some generic nodes to complete, so it won’t be too limiting and you can choose which ones you want to grind for depending on which route offers the fastest path to the rewards.

“Each map will have a number of general objectives that can be completed in other activities – if you look closely at the image, you can see the non-specific nodes in a few places,” Bungie clarified, so that will theoretically provide yet another option or choice for players to decide which path they choose to take in a given week.

The third act of Episode One: Echoes begins tomorrow, August 27, meaning Episode Two: Revenant will likely begin on October 8 if Bungie sticks to the six-week schedule for each act.
