Deshaun Watson to miss Browns’ final exhibition game against Seahawks

Quarterback Deshaun Watson will not play in the Cleveland Browns’ final preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, the team announced Saturday.

Coach Kevin Stefanski previously said the plan was to play Watson and that all starters could expect to play. However, he has backed off his plans for Watson in recent days.

Watson was limited in his participation in practice on Wednesday due to what Stefanski described as “general arm soreness,” but the team said he was able to fully participate in Thursday’s practice, which was closed to the media.

Stefanski said he wasn’t too concerned about Watson, who attended all but one training camp practice.

Watson has not played a game since last November after undergoing season-ending surgery on his throwing shoulder.

With Watson sidelined, backup Jameis Winston is expected to start at quarterback.

The Browns open the season at home on September 8 against the Dallas Cowboys.
