Day 2 kicks off at Softball Provinces in Estevan

The matches start at 8:00 am on Saturday and the last matches of the round robin are at 6:30 pm.

ESTEVAN – The Softball Saskatchewan U13 B provincial tournament continues Saturday at the Jody Waloshin Softball Diamonds in Estevan.

The 21-team tournament kicked off Friday with a full schedule of games. Host Estevan Elite played twice, defeating the Southeast Supernovas 11-9 in a thrilling game to open the tournament, but lost 7-1 to the Saskatoon Hustlers in an evening clash.

Meanwhile, the Supernovas recovered and defeated the Twin Cities Angels Queens 4-3 in an afternoon game.

The opening ceremonies were held Friday night. Teams paraded on one of the diamonds and dignitaries and softball officials gave speeches. It was also a celebration of the past and present of sports in Estevan. (More about the ceremonies can be found here).

Saturday games started at 8am and the last games of the day start at 6:30pm. There will be 21 games again. The 6:30pm games will conclude the round robin.

The Elite will play the Meadow Lake Sox at 12:00 and the Regina Royals Rockers at 6:30. The Supernovas will play the Hustlers at 10:00 and the Sox at 16:30.

The top two teams from each of the four round-robin pools advance to the play-offs, which will be played on Sunday and culminate with the gold medal match at 2:30 p.m.
