David Ornstein says who he thinks is the next big talent from Arsenal’s youth academy

Arsenal had plenty of young talent on display in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup win against Bolton and David Ornstein has named who he believes is the next big talent to emerge from the club’s academy.

After last weekend’s draw against Manchester City, Mikel Arteta made several changes against Bolton and gave a number of youngsters opportunities to impress in the first team.

Ethan Nwaneri made headlines when he scored two goals, but Myles Lewis-Skelly also played alongside 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Porter.

Ornstein picks Dowman as the next big Arsenal talent

Arsenal’s academy has produced some brilliant players over the years, with Bukayo Saka particularly being the poster boy.

The Gunners sold academy graduates Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah this summer, while Reiss Nelson left the club on loan.

However, it appears there is plenty of talent coming through the Hale End, with Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly knocking on the door for more regular first-team opportunities.

However, Ornstein is already looking further ahead and has highlighted who he believes is the next big talent in the Arsenal academy, named Max Dowman.

“It really seemed to be Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly in this one,” he told Sky Sports’ Back Pages podcast.

But tonight, and on the bench in Europe against Atalanta and even against Manchester City, we see a few more emerging.

“There is some absolutely outstanding talent emerging at Arsenal, one of the best in the country in Max Dowman. And so we’ll see a little more of him in recent years.”

As Dowman is only 14 years old, he is at least two years away from the first-team squad, but he is already making a name for himself as he became the youngest goalscorer in the history of the UEFA Youth League and has already been called up for England under – 17 team.

It certainly sounds like Dowman is one to keep an eye on and a player that Arsenal fans could see a lot more of in the coming years.
