David Neres starred as super sub on Saturday as Napoli came back from behind to beat Parma 2-1, but his dream night quickly turned into a nightmare.

The winger, making only his second appearance for Napoli after joining from Benfica ten days earlier, provided the assist for Frank Anguissa’s winning goal in the fifth minute of injury time after Romelu Lukaku had scored the equaliser moments earlier.

Neres and his wife Kira Winona left the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in a large black car.

However, they had not gotten far before armed criminals attacked the vehicle and smashed one of the windows.

Winona later posted on Instagram: ‘David would like to apologize to the fans who were waiting outside for him. As he was leaving the stadium after the game, two men on a motorcycle vandalized his car and robbed him at gunpoint.’

Neres reposted the message for his 2.4 million followers.

According to L’Unione Sarda, two robbers fled on a motorbike after stealing a watch from Neres, before the incident was reported to police in Naples.

Video taken after the alleged attack shows Neres and his partner being escorted from a damaged car to the safety of a hotel as fans cheer and shout in the background.

Neres joined Napoli in a deal worth around £23.5million and made his debut in last weekend’s 3-0 win over Bologna, providing an assist during a five-minute cameo.

He then got almost half an hour of playing time on Saturday as Napoli fought back from 1-0 down to beat 10-man Parma.
