Davante Adams reportedly wants to reunite with Aaron Rodgers as a member of the New York Jets, but he isn’t opposed to playing for other teams.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver “wants to play for the Jets” after informing the team Monday that he would prefer to be traded. However, he has not “demanded” to be moved to New York and would instead be open to playing with multiple other teams if he is traded.

Rapoport mentioned the New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers as other possible landing spots.

This isn’t the first time the veteran wide receiver has been connected to the Jets.

On Wednesday, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that many around the league believe the AFC East team will be his ultimate destination. ESPN’s Adam Schefter listed the Jets and Saints as teams on Adams’ wish list because he wants to play with a big-name quarterback, while Albert Breer of The MMQB reported that other teams believe “the Raiders star is focused on pulling off a trade” to New York.

That doesn’t mean a deal is imminent.

Adams missed the Raiders’ Week 4 game against the Cleveland Browns due to a hamstring injury, and the Jets and other teams certainly want to see if he’s healthy before giving up significant value.

And the wide receiver would likely have to facilitate a move by reworking his contract, which will give him a base salary of $35.6 million in 2025 and 2026.

Russini noted that the contract situation could yield other possible suitors:

Teams like Buffalo and Kansas City are all monitoring the situation and are more likely to get involved if the Raiders are willing to take some of the money, sources said. https://t.co/drUUafrtXo

Rapoport reported that “no trade is expected until next week at the earliest,” meaning New York and other teams will have more time to potentially negotiate or strategize when it comes to trading for the six-time Pro Bowler.

But the Jets remain an intriguing possibility, as Adams and Rodgers have already built good chemistry after playing together for eight seasons with the Green Bay Packers from 2014 through 2021.

Adams posted career-high totals in touchdown catches with 18 in 2020 and receiving yards with 1,553 in 2021 while playing with Rodgers and would give the Jets another go-to option in an offense that already includes Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall to finish.

Opposing defenses would have to pick their poison with that much firepower on the field, which would further cement New York as a Super Bowl contender.
