Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz share emotional Liverpool moment before Copa America brawl

Liverpool duo Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez shared a heartfelt exchange following Colombia’s Copa America semi-final victory over Uruguay before chaos descended in the stands.

The previous evening, Alexis Mac Allister helped Argentina reach yet another tournament final with Diaz and Nunez hoping to meet him in that clash that will take place this Sunday or in the early hours of Monday morning for English supporters.

Both Liverpool attackers started their semi-final encounter but it was Crystal Palace midfielder Jefferson Lerma that scored the winning goal to put Colombia, who played the entire second half a man down following Daniel Munoz’s sending off, in the final.

With Nunez and the rest of the Uruguay squad understandably emotional following their elimination, Diaz was pictured comforting his club teammate.

Just moments later though, emotions were at the opposite end of the spectrum with some unsavoury scenes in the stands that involved Nunez. It has been claimed by Uruguayan publication El Pais, the Uruguay players had entered the crowd to support family members and friends seated behind the team bench.

Numerous images and videos of the incident have since been posted on social media with Nunez captured in the thick of the brawl before he is struck in the face by a Colombia fan. Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was also videoed throwing bottles of water with Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo heavily involved.
