Dana White Claims Jon Jones Would Have Beat Francis Ngannou Had They Fighted: “One Hundred Percent”

Dana White doesn’t think Francis Ngannou vs. Jon Jones would have been as competitive if they had fought.

Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou

Jones vs. Ngannou would have been one of the greatest fights of all time, but unfortunately the fight never happened. Instead, Ngannou went to free agency so he could box, and once he left, Jones eventually moved up to heavyweight and quickly introduced Ciryl Gane to become the new champion.

After Jon Jones went through Ciryl Gane, many fans wanted to see the Francis Ngannou fight happen. However, it seems unlikely that will ever happen, but according to White, he doesn’t think the fight would have been very competitive.

“He went through Ciryl Gane so easily. In my opinion he does the same with Francis. A hundred percent. He does the same with Francis. Francis didn’t want to fight Jon Jones. Jon Jones is the scariest, most badass fighter of all time. Jon Jones has his problems outside the Octagon, which actually makes it even more impressive when you think about the lifestyle he led, and he did it with the best fighters in the world. Jon Jones is one of those guys who won’t be truly appreciated until he’s gone,” White told former NFL player Shannon Sharpe on his Club Shay Shay podcast.

“But I’m telling you right now, when you talk about who is the worst man in the world, two guys get locked in a room, who walks out? It’s fucking Jon Jones all day, every time,” White continued.

It’s an interesting comment from Dana White, but it should come as no surprise that he’s backing Jon Jones in the hypothetical fight. Francis Ngannou is no longer a UFC fighter and the two bouts didn’t end on good terms, so it’s not shocking that White is backing his current champion.

But for many fans, Jones vs. Ngannou still one of the greatest what-ifs ever and a sliver of hope that could ever happen again.
