PETALING JAYA: Naimah Khalid, wife of former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, has been summoned to give her statement to the police tomorrow over a report she filed earlier today about a news article alleging political intervention in a case afternoon against Daim and her.

Her lawyer, Rajesh Nagarajan, said Naimah will provide a statement to Sentul police at 2pm. “We expect Naimah to be questioned regarding the revelation by Bloomberg of abuse of power,” he told FMT.

Naimah filed a police report this morning over a Bloomberg article about the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s investigations into her husband’s affairs.

Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that MACC chief Azam Baki told agency officials that instructions had come from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim himself to investigate Daim, and former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his sons.

Naimah said the Bloomberg report showed the charges against Daim and her were a conspiracy to target Anwar’s political opponents. She alleged that they were subjected to politically motivated investigations through subversion of state institutions.

The Prime Minister’s Office and MACC have both denied the claims made in the Bloomberg report.

Earlier this year, Daim claimed trial on a charge of failing to comply with the terms of an asset declaration notice. Naimah was accused of failing to declare her ownership of various companies, several plots of land and two vehicles.
