Cyclist suffers ‘life-changing injuries’ in crash on Highway 12: OPP

A portion of Highway 12 was closed this morning after a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist, OPP officials said.

Highway 12 is closed between Forest Avenue and Atherley Road as members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team conduct an investigation.

“What we know at this time is that a motor vehicle struck a bicyclist,” OPP officials said in an email to OrilliaMaterials. “Our TIME team is on scene with reconstructionists investigating. The highway remains closed while they complete their investigation.”

The cyclist was taken by Air Ornge to a Toronto-area trauma centre with “life-changing injuries,” OPP officials said.
