Cristiano Ronaldo launches YouTube channel, breaks record

Cristiano Ronaldo launched his YouTube channel on Wednesday and within hours millions of people signed up.

The Portuguese international uploaded 19 videos to his ‘UR Cristiano’ channel featuring content of himself and his family.

“The wait is over. My @YouTube channel is finally here! SIUUUbscribe and join me on this new journey,” Ronaldo posted on Instagram.

It was an instant hit, as within 90 minutes the Al Nassr striker had broken the world record for the fastest channel to reach one million subscribers, now with 15.4 million and counting.

Ronaldo, 39, posted a video on Instagram showing his children a gold ‘play button’ plaque he received from YouTube for reaching more than one million subscribers.

He wrote: “A gift for my family ❤️ Thank you to all SIUUU subscribers!”

While Ronaldo has quickly surpassed eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and Argentina captain Lionel Messi’s 2.31 million subscribers, he still has a long way to go to match Mr. Beast, the YouTuber with the most subscribers on the platform with 331 million.

It’s not the first time the former Real Madrid and Manchester United striker has set records on social media.

Ronaldo has 170 million followers on Facebook, 112.6 million on X and a whopping 636 million on Instagram.
