Cricketer Sanjay Bangar’s son Aryan, who underwent gender reassignment, becomes Anaya

Former Indian cricketer and coach Sanjay Bangar’s son Aryan recently shared a film on his Instagram to showcase his transformation journey. The 23-year-old underwent hormone replacement surgery and took to social media to share her 10-month progress. Aryan is taking the internet by storm and has now changed his name to Anaya. Aryan, who currently lives in Manchester, shared some pictures with former India skipper MS Dhoni and star player Virat Kohli in his transformation reel.

“Pursuing my dream of playing professional cricket has been a journey of sacrifice, resilience and unwavering dedication. From early mornings on the field to facing the doubts and judgments of others, every step has taken strength ” wrote Aryan (now Anaya). in the video caption.

“But outside of the game, I had another journey. A path of self-discovery and many challenges. Embracing my true self meant making hard choices, letting go of the comfort of fitting in, and standing up for who I am, even when it wasn’t easy. Today I’m proud to be part of the sport I love, at any level or in any category, not only as an athlete, but also as my authentic self, but finding my true self has been the greatest victory of all,” he added to.

Like his father, Aryan is also a cricketer who has represented Islam Gymkhana in local club cricket. In addition, the left-handed batsman also played for Hinckley Cricket Club in Leicestershire.

However, in November 2023, the International Cricket Council (ICC) declared that transgender athletes will not be allowed to participate in women’s cricket.

“Inclusivity is incredibly important to us as a sport, but our priority has been to protect the integrity of the international women’s game and player safety,” said ICC CEO Geoff Allardice.

On Instagram, Aryan also shared a long post to express his disappointment over the ICC’s new rule.
