CPI(M) MLA Mukesh arrested in sexual assault case, released on bail

CPI(M) MLA and actor M Mukesh were formally arrested by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on October 21 in connection with a 2010 sexual assault case in Kerala’s central Thrissur district.

His lawyer confirmed that the MLA was arrested, his medical examination and potency test were conducted and he was subsequently released as he was granted interim bail by a sessions court on September 24.

Two cases have been registered against Mukesh, one by Wadakkanchery police and the other by Maradu police, and he has been granted interim bail in both cases.

According to police, the complainant in the Wadakkanchery case is the same woman actor on whose complaint an FIR has been lodged against him at the Maradu police station.
