Cowgirl Softball’s Martin Named to NCAA Division I Softball Committee

STILLWATER – Jesse Martin, Oklahoma State Senior Associate Athletic Director and Sports Administrator for Cowgirl Softball, has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Softball Committee for a four-year term, effective Sept. 1.

The committee is comprised of 10 highly respected school and conference executives from the sport of softball who are responsible for scheduling, organizing and conducting the Women’s College World Series.

“It is an honor to represent Oklahoma State and our softball program by serving on this prestigious committee,” Martin said. “I am excited for the opportunity to serve on a committee that will make an impact on our state and our fellow Oklahomans as Oklahoma City continues to establish itself as the Softball Capital of the World.”

Since arriving at Oklahoma State in 2006, Martin has held several positions with OSU Athletics. In his current role as athletic administrator for Cowgirl Softball, he has helped the Cowgirls rise to become one of the nation’s best in the sport by spearheading numerous fan initiatives that have helped the Pokes break attendance records each year, including breaking the home attendance record last season.

During that time, the Cowgirls won the 2022 Big 12 championship and made six WCWS appearances (including five consecutive appearances).

“It’s a great honor for Jesse and for Cowgirl Softball,” said OSU head coach Kenny Gajewski. “I’ve always said Jesse is the best administrator I’ve ever known. I truly believe that even with all his other responsibilities, he wakes up every day thinking about how he can make Cowgirl Softball better. You don’t see that very often.”

Prior to coming to Stillwater, Martin worked with the Mississippi Sea Wolves in the East Coast Hockey League, where he was named ECHL Ticket Executive of the Year in 2004 and served as general manager in 2005.

Martin is the sole representative from the Big 12 Conference on the committee.
