Copa America 2024 Power Rankings: Lionel Messi and Argentina remain favorites as Brazil collapses after tough performances

North and South America will clash this summer, but which teams are favorites for the tournament?

America came together this summer, and what an occasion it is already proving to be. The Copa America has returned to the United States as the teams from CONMEBOL and CONCACAF go head-to-head to determine which team is the best team in the Western Hemisphere.

It’s a tournament with no shortage of star power. Lionel Messi and Argentina headline the event, with the best of the two continents arriving. The legendary striker leads his team into this tournament not only as reigning champions, but also as reigning world champions after conquering the field in Qatar in 2022.

Yet it is not just Messi & Co., because Argentina is not the only one with legitimate hopes of winning the Copa. Uruguay and Colombia are on the rise and both recorded big wins in their first group games. Brazil may have made a mistake in their own opening match, but is anyone really willing to write them off? Add to that the presence of CONCACAF representatives such as the US men’s national team and Mexico, who both won their opening group stage matches, and everything is set for an exciting tournament.

But what does the field look like after the first round? GOAL ranks the teams in the tournament…
