Conor McGregor gives official status on return with shocking revelation behind injury – “They put stem cells in me before camp”

Conor McGregor has finally broken his silence on the injury that forced him to withdraw from UFC 303. UFC’s rival promotion Bellator returned to Ireland for another event, and surprisingly, ‘The Notorious’ was there. When people got a hold of McGregor, he revealed the experience he is going through while recovering from his injury.

When the UFC announced that Conor McGregor had been injured, there was a cloud of uncertainty surrounding the situation as they would not reveal what the injury was. But the Irishman would come out days later to reveal that his toe had been broken, and as for his recent statements, it wasn’t a great time for McGregor and he had to undergo special treatment for it.

The first thing most people want to know is when Conor McGregor will be in action, and guess what? The Irishman has certainly decided when he wants to fight Michael Chandler. McGregor wants to make his return in the final phase of the summer season. He would need some recovery time as he continues to carefully nurse his toe injury.

“August or September I would like to (fight Michael Chandler)… I’m in recovery mode. Three weeks to the day. It happened three weeks ago today and I’m still standing here in my slippers,” said Conor McGregor during an interview after the Bellator Dublin event, where he came to cheer on his teammate, Sinead Kavanaghand even cornered her. According to the Irishman, the injury is so serious that he can put his foot in a shoe. And for that he underwent a special type of treatment: stem cell therapy.

Stem cell therapy has proven to be quite a game changer as many athletes prefer it. It helps the body acquire the ability to regenerate and even repair damaged tissues, or tissues affected by certain types of diseases. When Conor McGregor received his treatment, doctors extracted stem cells from his back and added them to his toe area.

“They (the slippers) are cozy enough, but I can’t step into a shoe yet. So you know… they put stem cells in me before camp, took it from the back and put it in my foot. 20 milligrams of stem cells,” Conor McGregor added. Additionally, he would then make a shocking revelation, claiming that his toe injury was much more painful than breaking his leg almost three years ago.

‘The Notorious’ claims his foot injury is worse than his broken leg at UFC 264

‘The Notorious’ would also claim that he is during that interview “dialed in” for the Michael Chandler fight. However, the foot injury he is dealing with does not give him a moment’s peace as it has been quite a painful experience. Guess what? McGregor claims his current injury is much worse than the broken leg he suffered Dustin Poirier.

“I’m doing well. The injury is a nuisance. It’s painful. I’m not going to lie. It’s very painful. Probably more painful than the leg and that’s the truth,” said Conor McGregor. The question that arises from this statement is why he would make such a comparison with his broken leg, because that injury seemed to everyone to be the end of his career. The reason behind his claims is that his toe is exposed more than his leg. However, McGregor understands that injuries are an essential part of combat sports. “At least the leg was wrapped. I didn’t have access to it. The foot is just still there… It’s exposed or something. So it’s a little painful, but it comes with the damn territory,’ Conor McGregor added.

After hearing what Conor McGregor had to say about his injury, that’s unlikely Dana White would come out to talk about his return, which he showed during the post-fight pressers at UFC Saudi Arabia. So it remains to be seen how long it will take before he is combat-ready. What are your thoughts on this situation? Post your comments below.
