Lynch described the way the goals conceded were awarded as “very different to” his side, with the second in particular being avoidable after the ball was given away in the middle of the park.

However, the visitors did feel disadvantaged by the nature of Molde’s opener through their skipper, the impressive Magnus Wolff Eikrem.

“I haven’t seen it again, but personally with the first goal I felt like I won the ball, that I didn’t get close to the man,” defender Shaun Want said of the free kick that led to the goal.

“The referee pulls me over to talk to me and before I know it, the ball is played over the top. The referee didn’t let me get back into position.”
