Community supports family after mine accident

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – Many people in southern Colorado are showing their support for the family and son of a man killed in an accident at an old mine.

Nearly a dozen people were trapped for hours 300 meters below the surface in the Mollie Kathleen mine. Patrick Weier died in the mine.

Weier was a guide in the mine. Investigators are investigating how he died.

Weier’s brother tries to raise money for Patrick’s son. A go-fund me has raised more than $45,000 and that money will go towards supporting Weier’s 7-year-old son for his future.
