Colorado star Travis Hunter felt his team had “no answer” to Nebraska’s start in the Buffaloes’ 28-10 loss.

“They came out quick. They hit us in the mouth,” he said to open The Travis Hunter Show. “We haven’t had any response. That’s pretty much what happened. We haven’t had any response all night. We have to go back to the drawing board.”

Hunter added that the performance was “not Colorado football.”

All of the Cornhuskers’ points came in the first half as they overwhelmed the Buffs early in the game. They scored on their opening drive, and a pick-six to defensive back Tommi Hill a few possessions later turned the momentum around.

The second half was much less eventful as Nebraska let go of the gas pedal. Colorado got 10 points on the board but never looked like they could mount a serious comeback.

Head coach Deion Sanders tried to emphasize the positive when he told reporters he was “really pleased with the way they played in the second half.”

“We seem to be a second-half team, we just need to get going earlier,” he said.

Rivalries in games are always unpredictable, but Colorado should overcome some shortcomings against Colorado State, which was blown out 52-0 by Texas in the season opener.

The rest of the Buffs’ schedule features some tough matchups, though, most notably No. 14 Kansas State, No. 12 Utah and No. 13 Oklahoma State. All three of those opponents are likely to attack Colorado early, so they’ll have to be much more resilient than they were in Lincoln, Nebraska.
