Colorado Springs and Fountain police issued a crash alert Tuesday evening

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Springs Police and Fountain Police announced Tuesday evening that they are on alert for crashes due to slippery roads.

The crash alert is activated when a police department expects a large number of motor vehicle collisions and is unable to respond to all of them due to severe weather. When an accident alert is in place, police will only respond to a collision if the car is no longer drivable due to damage, if there has been a death or injury requiring medical attention, if alcohol or drugs are involved , if there is a so-called hit-and-run. , or if there is damage to public property other than wildlife.

Police ask motorists to report an accident within 72 hours.
