CM Punk is promoting Tony Khan’s company despite leaving AEW on bad terms

CM Punk left AEW on a grim note. As most fans know, he had an altercation backstage during AEW ‘All In’ last year. After news of this second backstage brawl came to light through the media, Tony Khan showed a firm hand and fired him from the wrestling promotion. When his non-performing clause ended, we finally saw Punk return to WWE.

Although things were never resolved between Tony Khan and the ex-AEW star, the latter recently became one of Khan’s wrestling promotions again.

“The Best in the World” probably isn’t fond of the AEW president or any other company he owns. However, he shares a history with some of those companies that make him proud of his wrestling run. Recently, a fan page uploaded the 19th anniversary of a milestone Punk achieved during his time in Ring of Honor. On 6/18/2005, wrestling legend defeated Austin Aries to come out on top and become RoH World Champion. This happened during the PPV ‘Death Before Dishonor III’. Punk shared this post on his Instagram story without any context. The Chicago-based star likely showed off the milestone he set for himself 19 years ago.

The World Championship belt that Punk is holding in the photo has “ROH” written on it in large letters. This looks like he’s promoting the wrestling company that now owns Tony Khan. However, since things didn’t end well between the wrestler and the AEW head honcho, he’s probably just showing that it’s been 19 years since this major milestone was etched into his life.

The Second City Saint will be eager to add to his stellar collection as he looks to pursue another title challenge. Despite spending very little time wrestling since his comeback to WWE, Punk has kept himself busy by feuding with Drew McIntyre. This final showdown could align with the former AEW star’s desire to capture a major WWE title. But before that, he would aim to return from his injury as quickly as possible.

When can we expect CM Punk?

We last saw the Chicago talent wrestle at the Royal Rumble. He was one of the last two contenders to remain inside the squared circle this year. Despite the long odds of victory, the Voice of the Voiceless lost the competition Cody Rhodes. It appears he suffered an injury during the match that required him to improve before returning to the promotion. This was a disturbing update as fans believed he was on his way to a potential world title shot.

It’s now been almost five months since he last wrestled, but fans got a glimpse of some of the action in Scotland when he attacked The Scottish Psychopath and sabotaged his title chase in the main event. At the time, his triceps injury didn’t seem that bad. Fortunately, CM Punk later also revealed that he is now doing much better than before even gave a return date to his fans to keep them on the hook.

Do you think things will ever get better between CM Punk and Tony Khan?
