Christian McCaffrey out for Week 2 with Achilles injury, Niners considering IR stint

Christian McCaffrey will be out of Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers, and possibly beyond that.

The Niners decided Friday that the Pro Bowl running back would sit out, with Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan telling reporters that the team is considering taking an IR stint due to his Achilles/calf injury, according to David Lombardi of The Athletic.

Thursday was reportedly described as McCaffrey’s “worst day” with the injury.
