Chilling attack attempt in DC sparks urgent manhunt

WASHINGTON, DC – Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect in an attempted sexual assault that occurred early July 29 in Northwest Washington, DC.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the incident happened around 2:20 a.m. near the intersection of Belmont and 14th Streets NW. The suspect allegedly approached the victim, displayed a firearm and assaulted the person while attempting to perform a forcible sexual act.

The suspect was captured on surveillance footage and police have released images in hopes of identifying the person.
