Chelsea identify 27-year-old as alternative to key target who wants £500,000-a-week

Chelsea are keen to sign a quality striker this summer and the club have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks.

Victor Osimhen is one of the names on the shortlist, but the Napoli striker is demanding £500,000-a-week. It is understood Chelsea are now looking at possible alternatives that are available for a reasonable price.

According to a report from the Sun, Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is now an option for Chelsea. The 27-year-old has shown his quality in the Premier League in recent years and it will be interesting to see if the Blues decide to make a move for him.

They need someone who can take charge for them and consistently find the net. Although the Everton striker has not been at his best in recent seasons (15 goals in three seasons), he has the quality to improve the Blues in the final third.

Besides his goals, his attitude and aerial acrobatics can also come in handy.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton celebrates scoring his second goal for his team during the Premier League match between Everton FC and Liverpool FC at Goodison Park on April 24, 2024 in Liverpool, England.

Chelsea need a good striker

Chelsea are too dependent on Cole Palmer for goals and the England international will need more help in attack. Signing a good striker should be a top priority for Chelsea. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Everton may not want to sell a key player at this stage of the transfer window. With only a few days left on the transfer market, the Toffees will struggle to replace him if they decide to sanction his departure now. Moreover, they could demand a significant fee for him so late in the window.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also keeping an eye on Federico Chiesa. The Juventus winger is also on the shortlist as they look to strengthen their attacking unit. It will be interesting to see if they can bring in the right additions before the transfer window closes.
