Chelsea get approval from Enzo Maresca to sign world-class striker

Chelsea are looking to sign a new striker in the summer after adding defenders and midfielders to their squad.

Just like in previous transfer windows, they have been active again this summer to add quality to their squad.

Club owner Todd Boehly has not hesitated to support the club financially to attract new players ahead of the Premier League season.

The Blues have shown their ambition in the player market by throwing their support behind new manager Enzo Maresca after failing last season under former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

After failing to close a deal to sign striker Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid due to personal circumstances, the Blues are now targeting a transfer for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

According to Sky Sports Italy, Chelsea have shown renewed interest in signing Osimhen this summer, despite previously abandoning a deal to sign the Nigeria international due to his huge release clause.

Chelsea have been reluctant to activate his €130m (£110.8m) buyout fee, with the Italian club now lowering their asking price for the striker.

Victor Osimhen to Chelsea?

The report states that Maresca has given his approval to the club to sign the prolific forward, and that he is keen to make a permanent move to the Premier League club.

Napoli’s interest in Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku could help Chelsea in their pursuit of the Serie A striker.

Osimhen has already shown his talent regularly in the Italian league, where he scored goals for Napoli for fun.

Victor Osimhen has been compared to Chelsea legend Drogba

According to GOAL, the striker has been compared to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba by former Blues manager Jose Mourinho.

Like Drogba, he can lead the attack independently and has the talent to score all kinds of goals.

His arrival could make Chelsea’s attack a fearsome force next season, as the striker is one of the best players in the world in his position and his performances in front of goal have been hugely impressive.

Now that Maresca has given his seal of approval to Chelsea’s pursuit of the star striker, the Blues must do everything they can to bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
