Chelsea FC still likes PSG defender

Paris Saint-Germain may have only recently signed Lucas Beraldo, but he is a player still on Chelsea’s radar, according to Blues journalist Simon Phillips via his Substack.

The talented young Brazilian centre-back impressed during his time at Sao Paulo and you can imagine that many top European teams were keeping an eye on him while he was there.

Ultimately, Beraldo ended up at PSG for a fee of twenty million euros (according to L’Equipe’s report at the time), but it seems that Chelsea will continue to follow him as one of the defensive options they like, along with the defender and defender from Nottingham Forest. fellow Brazilian Murillo.

Chelsea could do well to target Beraldo if he becomes available at some point in the near future, as they could likely still do by improving their defensive options.

While we’ve seen CFC spend big on a host of new signings led by Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, there have been more than a few flops, and most fans would probably agree that Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile are one of the most disappointing.

It may be that the French duo can still turn things around for themselves at Stamford Bridge, but Beraldo could perhaps be an upgrade in that area.

The 20-year-old still has a lot to learn but may look like a player with a higher ceiling than Chelsea’s current centre-backs, so could be a smart investment for the West Londoners.

But given that Beraldo only recently joined PSG, this certainly won’t be possible anytime soon unless he really starts to struggle for playing time in Luis Enrique’s side. In that case, we might see him move on fairly quickly, even though a loan move imagines being more likely than a permanent sale.
