Chelsea agree £15.6m deal to sign Real Madrid target

Since the change of ownership, Chelsea have undergone a major change in their identity as a football club. They have focused on signing the best young players in the world rather than chasing proven and experienced players. So far, the results on the pitch have not supported their vision, but they have stuck to their ways. The hope is clearly that it will work in the long term. And in that quest, they have secured one of Real Madrid’s rumoured targets.

Real Madrid is another club that has been very active in recruiting the most talented youngsters from all over the world. For them, the results have been much more positive because they have the balance between youth and experience right.

Aaron Anselmino is someone Real Madrid have been linked with in recent times. The rising Argentine centre-back is currently seen as one of the brightest prospects in South American football.

But as BBC reported, Chelsea have reached a deal in principle to sign Anselmino, costing £15.6m in transfer fees, but the centre-back will return to Boca Juniors on loan until at least January.

Chelsea have really backed themselves into a corner with their transfer strategy. The new owners have spent so much money in their first two seasons that they have not been able to compete for top talent this summer.

Instead, they have signed a number of young players who are not the game-changers they need to get back to competing for trophies. They also have a new manager in Enzo Maresca. And the results in pre-season have been far from positive for them.

As for Real Madrid, they have no problems. They are the reigning La Liga and Champions League holders for the 2024/25 season and have also added Kylian Mbappe and Endrick to their squad.
