Chapman and Giants agree to six-year, $151 million contract extension

Chapman, Giants agree to six-year, $151 million contract extension originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

Matt Chapman isn’t going anywhere this offseason.

The All-Star third baseman has agreed to a six-year, $151 million contract extension with the Giants, the team announced Wednesday night.

The deal keeps Chapman in the Bay through the 2030 MLB season, with the third baseman earning a $25 million salary in each year of the deal, with a $1 million signing bonus in 2025.

Chapman has been San Francisco’s most reliable outfielder during the 2024 MLB season, leading the Giants in home runs (22), RBI (69) and runs (90) while maintaining his status as one of the league’s best defensive corner infielders.

After signing a one-year, $18 million contract last season, Chapman appears set to play a major role in San Francisco for years to come.
