CBI Unearths Rs 25 Lakh in Bribery Case at Bengaluru Customs

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has seized Rs 25 lakh in cash from Ramesh Chandra Tripathi, a superintendent of customs posted at the Inland Container Depot in Whitefield, Bengaluru, during a raid linked to a bribery case, officials announced on Sunday.

Acting on inputs that Tripathi has been allegedly accepting bribes to Enrich himself, the central agency registered a case and conducted a joint operation with officers from Customs and Central Tax on Friday and Saturday.

“During the course of this operation, the CBI recovered over Rs 25 lakh from the possession of the accused Superintendent of Customs,” a CBI spokesperson revealed. Further searches at Tripathi’s Bengaluru residence uncovered incriminating documents.
