Bulls 10U South close out season with tournament title

Jul 8—COLUMBUS — The Indiana Bulls 10U South baseball team closed out the season with another tournament championship. The Bulls traveled to Ceraland Park in Columbus to compete in the Calvin Strong Tournament.

Bulls 10U South defeated Patoka Lake Sluggers 10U 8-0 on Saturday. Bulls 10U South got on the board in the first inning after Gibson Miller walked for one run and Lucas Werner doubled for two runs. Bulls 10U South extended its early lead in the second inning after Jamison Dare was hit by a pitch and Dustin Wessel hit a fielder’s choice for both runs.

Nolan McCamment started on the mound, pitched two innings, allowing no runs on two hits and two walks, while striking out two. DeShawn Fivecoat pitched two innings in relief, allowing no runs.

McCamment went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Dare, Emmitt Metz and Werner each had one hit. Metz stole three bases.

In Game 2 on Saturday, Bulls 10U South lost 4-1 to Indy Clutch 10U. Werner started on the mound and allowed two runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out three.

McCamment went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Tucker Glidden had one hit.

On Sunday, Bulls 10U South defeated Patoka Lake Sluggers 10U 12-4. A double by Glidden put Bulls 10U South on top of the first inning. Bulls 10U South added one run in the second inning after Dare grounded out. Bulls 10U South extended its lead at the top of the third inning after Miller singled and Werner doubled, both scoring one run.

Fivecoat pitched three innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and no walks, while striking out three. Glidden went 1-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs. Wessel led the Bulls 10U South with three hits in four at bats. McCamment added two hits. Metz stole three bases.

Bulls 10U South defeated Indy Clutch 10U 7-4 in Sunday’s championship game to take home the hardware. Bulls 10U South got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after McCamment doubled, scoring one run, and Miller singled, scoring two runs. Bulls 10U South extended its lead in the bottom of the second inning after Miller doubled, Werner walked and passed ball all scored one run. In the third inning, Wessel singled, making it 7-0.

Wessel pitched five innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits and no walks, while striking out three. Dare pitched one inning in relief, allowing no hits, no walks, and no runs.

Miller drove in two runs while going 2-for-3 at the plate. McCamment, Miller and Blayne Rogers each had two hits for Bulls 10U South. Easton Gray led Bulls 10U South with three walks. Werner stole three bases.

The Indiana Bulls 10U South finished the season with a 20-12-2 record at the AAA level. The team placed first in three events, second in the state, and third in two events. Bulls 10U South is made up of kids from Decatur County, Shelby County, Milan, Union County, and Batesville.
