Bucks ‘eyeing’ big trade as the reality of this season’s battle fades

The Milwaukee Bucks have started the season with a poor record of 2-7. It hasn’t been pretty for Milwaukee and they are in danger of letting this season pass before it ever really gets started.

The Bucks haven’t shown much consistency on either end of the court and that has caused problems. It has led to a lot of speculation that the team could trade away star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

At this time, Antetokounmpo will not be traded. But if the Bucks continue to spiral out of control, it could force the hand of the front office to make some big changes.

This team wants to win championships and they might make some other moves before something happens to their star.

According to ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorstthe Bucks are “looking” at a big trade to help them stay competitive the rest of the way.

“The speculation is true. The Bucks are indeed beginning to canvass the league for a trade, league executives told ESPN. But no, not that trade. The concept of two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo hitting the trade market is ripe for rumors and trade machine calculations, but isn’t a reality for Antetokounmpo or the Bucks at this point, sources said. Teams have told the Bucks in recent months that they would make an offer for the Greek Freak if that day ever came. But those are incoming calls, not outgoing calls, and that will probably remain the case.”

Milwaukee could use some pieces to build depth around Antetokounmpo and opposite number Damian Lillard. The hope is that the team can turn around this season, but the reality is that things may not get better.

While Antetokounmpo may not be on the trade block at the moment, Milwaukee still has some work to do. They are in danger of falling behind in the Eastern Conference and other teams have shown better cohesion on the field.

In the current iteration of the NBA, teams can’t just have two stars if they want to win. Teams need stars and strong depth to win titles and thus far Milwaukee has seen a lack of consistent contributions beyond their star players.

The clock is completely ticking on the Bucks or big changes are coming. There is still a lot of season left, but bad habits are often difficult to break.
