Britt Baker Opens Up About Major Nerves Ahead of AEW In-Ring Return

AEW star Britt Baker recently made her long-awaited return to the ring.

Britt Baker has been out of action for months after suffering a Transient Ischemic Attack, which is essentially a warning sign of a stroke. However, at Forbidden Door III, she made a strong comeback to the promotion to face the current TBS Champion, Mercedes Mone.

On July 24, the former women’s world champion entered the ring for her first match of 2024 at AEW Blood & Guts. However, her return match was not an easy one, as she faced old rival Hikaru Shida.

The match was a gruelling 10 minute affair that saw the dentist pushed to her limits before finally defeating her opponent. Despite winning, Baker was knocked out by a debuting Kamille who has joined Mone.

Britt Baker revealed how nervous she was when she returned to the ring after 10 months

Speaking to Ringside Collectibles, Baker talked about her feelings ahead of her first match of the year.

So wait, I didn’t just have a return match. They threw me in the fire. They said, here, your first match back, you’re going to wrestle the longest reigning Women’s Champion of all time, (Hikaru) Shida. So I was so nervous for that match and I’m so sore today. I woke up and I was like, ‘Oh my God, my head hurts, my neck hurts, my back hurts,’ but I miss that so much. I missed the aches and pains and everything in between and I mean, hey, that’s a great win to start with, Shida. That’s no joke and every match with Shida is a fight, so I’m glad I came out on top and I’m glad I’m standing today. Physically able to stand. It’s awesome.

Britt Baker will face Mercedes Mone on August 25 at AEW All Out.
