The “Gimme More” singer can finally breathe a sigh of relief from the huge financial commitment, as her youngest son, whom she has with ex-husband Kevin Federline, turns 18 on Thursday, September 12.

Spears has paid child support to Federline for the past 17 years for the care of their two children, Jayden and Sean Preston, reportedly totaling around $5 million.

According to the Daily MailA source explained that while Federline will be celebrating, she will likely be in a sober mood as the cessation of her alimony payments will mean he will struggle to maintain his lifestyle.

“The amount of money Britney gave Kevin for the two boys is extraordinary and it is enough for any man to support an entire family. And that is what she believes he has done,” the source said.

Spears filed for divorce from Federline in November 2006, eight weeks after the birth of their second child, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

In their original divorce settlement, they were awarded joint legal and physical custody of their two children.

According to People MagazineThe struggling DJ refused to sign it due to Spears’ behavior at the time, as she was in rehab.

After the singer publicly went on a rampage and locked herself in a room with Jayden, a Los Angeles court awarded Federline full custody of their sons in 2008.

According to the Daily MailCourt documents show that Federline was paid $240,000 a year from 2007 to 2017 for care of Jayden and Sean Preston.

That amount was increased by the court to $480,000 a year in 2018, after he filed a legal request to increase her payments to $20,000 a month per child.

“I am no longer able to perform as a dancer due to my age and I am no longer as successful in releasing new music as I was in 2008,” Federline wrote in court documents.

He claimed at the time that he was making $3,000 a month as a DJ, but that he had no health insurance, stocks, assets or savings.

“I am simply less ‘known’ and less wanted than in 2008, which has a negative impact on my income,” Federline wrote.

The DJ made several other statements to demonstrate the difference in lifestyle between him and Spears and convince the court to increase his alimony.

In 2023, Federline moved his family to Hawaii in search of better DJ opportunities. His wife, Victoria Prince, was also hired as an assistant volleyball coach at the University of Hawaii.

Federline has since denied that he moved there to take advantage of a legal loophole that would extend Spears’ alimony obligations.

Meanwhile, Spears is reportedly not concerned about Federline’s potential financial problems. A source told the Daily Mail which the singer thinks is his problem that he needs to solve.

“Britney hears he’s not exactly in a good mood,” the sources said, adding that Spears is “living her best life.”

The singer was lucky, because her best-selling memoir, “The Woman in Me,” and a deal with Universal Pictures to turn it into a film, changed her life.

“This film has given her a chance to get outside of her head,” the source continued. “She’s considering creating new music for the soundtrack, but that’s still tentative.”

“She has gotten rid of all the toxic people,” they added.

The “Toxic” singer is said to be excited about the prospect of “getting her boys back.” Spears’ relationship with her sons has been strained, in part because of the embarrassment the boys feel over her social media posts.

While insiders have revealed that she’s pretty bummed she won’t be able to be there for Jayden’s birthday on Thursday, when he’ll be living in Hawaii and “will probably have a party with his friends,” Spears is going to give him a gift that’s “more expensive than anything his dad could afford.”

“Britney has more contact with her sons and wants to spend more time with them when they are ready,” a source said. We weekly in July.
